A 50-minute massage is a popular session length that offers a nice balance between relaxation and therapeutic benefit without taking up your whole day. Here's what you can expect during a typical 50-minute massage:

🌿 Arrival & Setup (5–10 minutes)
You’ll arrive at the massage location and check in.

The therapist might ask you a few questions about areas of tension, injuries, or preferences (pressure level, music, etc.).

You'll be shown to a quiet, dimly lit room with calming music and a heated table.

After a few minutes to undress to your comfort level and get under the sheet, the therapist will knock and enter.

💆‍♂️ The Massage (about 50 minutes)
Depending on your needs, it might include:

Swedish Massage (Relaxation Focused)
Long, flowing strokes

Light to medium pressure

Good for stress relief and improving circulation

Deep Tissue (Therapeutic Focused)
Slower strokes

Deeper pressure to release muscle tension and knots

Often targets chronic tension areas like the neck, shoulders, or lower back

Combo or Custom Massage
Many therapists blend techniques

You can ask them to focus on certain areas (e.g., back, neck, legs)

☁️ Wrap-Up (1–2 minutes)
The massage ends gently, often with lighter strokes or stillness to signal completion.

You’ll be given a moment alone to get dressed.

Afterward, your therapist may offer water and check in about how you’re feeling.

Dr. Calvin is a Chiropractic Physician, and a certified chiropractic sports physician (CCSP). He completed his undergraduate studies majoring in pre-med and chemistry from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. He then attended Chiropractic College at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. He received his advanced degree in sports injuries and rehabilitation from Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, Missouri, and has attained over 1,000 hours of continuing education in the areas of sports rehabilitation and nutrition.
